A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

My own pain is where this work began

The director in a white coat, smiling gently

I'm Shoichi Ro, director of Himawari Acupuncture and Bone-Setting Clinic.

I decided to become an acupuncturist when I was 18. During the summer break of my university years, I developed sciatica, and the pain stayed with me for four years. In those hard days I received acupuncture and felt the pain begin to ease. That experience set me on this path.

The pain was so severe that I made myself a promise: if I were ever free of it, I would spend my life as an acupuncturist helping people suffering from the same kind of pain.

Ongoing pain wears down your mood as well as your body. Because I know that feeling, I always start by listening carefully, then explain clearly what is happening in your body and what to expect from treatment.

From stiff shoulders and back pain to problems that can be hard to talk about elsewhere, I have listened to and worked with many patients over the years.

Ever since I opened Himawari Clinic in Hanno, I have kept that promise with every patient I see. If pain is troubling you, please feel free to talk to me.

OUR ACUPUNCTURE

The right needle for each symptom

Using needles and moxibustion to draw out the strength your body already has.
This is the heart of our approach.

Two people with back pain can have pain in very different places and depths. We choose needles of different lengths and thicknesses to suit each person.

01 cm5 cm9 cm Hair-thin needle, about 1 cm Long needle (3 sun), about 9 cm
Drawn to scale. We decide which needle to use after checking your condition.

TAILORED

From fine needles to long needles

Short, fine needles for surface stiffness; long needles for pain deep in the body.

HYGIENE

Single-use needles

All needles are disposable. For some conditions, we keep a set of needles reserved for you alone at the clinic.

COMFORT

A calm space

Soft cream tones and a gentle herbal and tea aroma help first-time visitors relax.

FAQ

For first-time visitors

Can I be treated in English?

We mainly speak Japanese, and the director can handle basic everyday conversation in English. We want to help every patient who is in pain, so when needed we use a translation app and take the time to talk through your symptoms and treatment together before we begin.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are welcome, but you may have to wait. Please call 042-980-6002 to book.

Does acupuncture hurt?

We mostly use very fine needles, so most people feel only a slight prick. If you're nervous, just let us know.

Are needles reused?

No. All needles are single-use. If your treatment calls for your own set of needles, we keep them at the clinic for you only (one-time storage fee of ¥2,000).

What if the car park is full?

We'll direct you to another space. Please call 042-980-6002 or ask at reception.

Do I need my health insurance card?

Bring your insurance card (or My Number insurance card) if you are being treated for an injury with bone-setting. You don't need it for acupuncture, which is self-pay.
